Invitation ECDIS seminar

9 May 2014

We have the pleasure of inviting you to join the Admiralty ECDIS Implementation, Policy and Procedures Seminar on Friday 16 May 2014 in Rotterdam. Do you want to discuss the best way to start to implementing your ECDIS procedures to support your transition to digital navigation? To achieve SOLAS carriage requirements for the use of ECDIS as a primary means of navigation, the ship's safety management system must include procedures for the operational use of ECDIS.

The ECDIS Implementation, Policy and Procedures Seminar will be tailored to answer any questions and address real-world challenges that you and others in the room are currently facing whilst implementing ECDIS. Drawing on content from previous year's seminars, the knowledge of Captain Paul Hailwood and UKHO experts, your real-world questions – submitted during registration or on the day – will be answered.

The workshops will benefit any person involved with the shipping industry including, managers, owners, ship personnel, regulators and auditors to achieve this important requirement. You will have ample opportunity to get involved, bring your issues and challenges, ask questions and seek solutions whilst networking with other industry colleagues.

The agenda will be:
- Short review of the 9 stages to ECDIS transition
- Legal Requirements
- Initial ECDIS Risk Assessment
- Review of current ECDIS legislation documents
- Risk Assessment
- Identify ECDIS potential hazards
- Identify effective and practical control measures
- Develop ECDIS Policy and Procedures
- Supporting ADMIRALTY Publications
