Recently, Datema received orders for the supply of life saving and fire protection equipment and systems for 2 export orders towards the Indian shipbuilder Chowgule & Co. LTD PVT. The new contracts comprise the engineering and supply of virtually all life saving and fire protection systems and equipment for one 4.450 DWT multi-purpose carrier and one lengthened multi-purpose carrier of 5.500 DWT. Delivery for both ship sets is scheduled for 2012.

These orders are the latest in the long-lasting relationship between Datema and the successful Goa based shipyard. The family owned Chowgule Group, established in 1916, has grown into an industrial giant with a
wide range of activities among which in shipowning and shipbuilding. The group’s shipbuilding division consists out of a prefabrication steel plant, a hatch cover construction plant and two shipyards. Since 2004, the Chowgule Group invested heavily in modernizing and optimizing its production facilities and successfully penetrated the European shipowner market by offering top class, 4.450 ton deadweight multipurpose vessels, designed and
engineered in The Netherlands. The yard’s competitive strength is based on being able to deliver Dutch designed vessels, equipped with West European equipment for competitive price levels. Not surprisingly, more than 20 of these vessels have been ordered by various West European owners already.
