Part of the Nautical Safety Group, Datema was founded in 1955 and has since developed from a small supplier of charts and books into a modern multidisciplinary company, prominent in the field of Nautical Safety and Nautical Data in the Netherlands,
The company and its 40 employees are currently based in modern well-equipped premises in Delfzijl and Rotterdam, supplying our products to shipping companies, ship owners, shipyards, as well as ship dealers and agents throughout the Netherlands.
While the company's activities used to be limited to supplying particular products, it is currently becoming increasingly involved in the demarcation process. As co-manufacturers we are responsible for the provision of all safety and nautical equipment on board at newly built ships. So, from engineering, to project management during construction, and installation on board.
In the Nautical Data field Datema plays a leading role in the distribution of safety critical data like charts and publication and increasingly also in the field of electronic charts and digital publications. Datema has developed several value added services in this area. Like the award winning ChartPlanner voyage planning tool, and many others.
By rapidly responding to legislative changes, and also by playing and advisory role for our clients in respect of such changes, we are able to supply more than just a package of safety equipment. We have created added value, which means that we now occupy a central position in the market, and the company has become an organisation that we can justifiably be proud of.
